Trash Bag Pattern

Materials:

  • Any yarn, I used a worsted weight brown
  • A small bit of black for mouth 
  • Blush or pink yarn for cheek blush (Optional)
  • Poly-fil or other stuffing
  • Safety eyes
  • 4mm Hook-  or one to match your yarn
  • Scissors
  • Sewing needle

Abbreviations:

Ch- Chain

Sc- Single Crochet

Inc- Increase 

Dec- Decrease

Sts- Stitches

FO- Finish Off


Notes:

  • At the end of each round the total number of stitches will be listed in brackets ()
  • Parts of this pattern are worked in the round, parts in a back and forth. 
  • This pattern is in US terms
  • Pictures are using a different yarn for stitch clarity


Bag:

Ch 11, beginning in second ch from hook:


1: Sc 9, 3sc in last st, 8 sc in back side of ch, 2 in last (22)

2: Sc around (22)CH and SC RND 2 trash bag

3: Sc 10, inc, sc 10, inc (24)

4-7: Sc (24)

Add eyes between round 4&5,  about 4 sts apart

Eye Placement

8: *Sc4, Dec* Repeat around (20)

9: SC

10: *Sc 3, Dec* Repeat (16)

11: SC

Stuff firmly, this will help the bag round out and look full

12: *Sc 2, Dec* Repeat (12)

13: *Dec* Repeat (6)

FO and sew top closed 

 


Top Tie:

This part is done in rows, be sure to ch 1 then turn at the end of every round. 


Ch2

1: 2sc in second ch from hook (2)

2: *Inc* x2 (4)

3: Inc, sc 2, Inc (6)

4: Dec, Sc2, Dec (4)

5: Dec x2 (2)

6-11: Sc (2)

12: Inc x2 (4)

13: Inc, sc 2, Inc (6)

14: Dec, sc 2, Dec (4)

15: Dec x2 (2) 

16: Dec (1)

FO with a long tail for sewing. 

Bag tie top


Assembly:

Tie the top in a small overhand knot. Sew that knot to the top of the bag where you finished off, creating that ‘Tied off trash’ look.

Optional Additions:

I use a small bit of black yarn to sew a smile V shape, and some old make-up blush to add rosey cheeks.
